When is the best time to hunt Devils Lake? The first couple of weeks of the season is outstanding. Weather is usually very good so it is a great time to bring  young hunters. Next choice is the beginning of November. Late season hunting is for experienced hunters.

Devils Lake is a big lake, how do I find concentrations of  birds? You will not believe it until you see it but there is excellent hunting in every major bay on Devils Lake. The best advice for people new to the area might be to use your vehicle and a good pair of binoculars to spot collection of birds on the lake and  then plan your hunt accordingly.

Ice Fishing Tips

All those large fish are still under that layer of ice. The important thing for you is to layer yourself, with multiple layers of clothing. You'll also want to purchase the warmest pair of boots you can afford. Cold feet are nobody's idea of fun. Much the same can be said for cold fingers and hands. You might even want to bring more than one pair of gloves, one warm pair for "waiting" and perhaps a more flexible pair for "fish handling".
